Jazmine Sullivan’s “Holding You Down [Goin' In Circles]“

There has been some really decent songs sprouting out this summer and Jazmine Sullivan is definitely added to that list with, “Holding You Down [Goin' In Circles].” Not only is this in heavy rotation in my iPod, but now the video adds some dimension to this ridiculously hot song! Of course Missy E put her trademarked stamp in the very opening but it was good to see her…it’s been a minute.  So loving the ode to the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul…the fabulous Mary J. Blige! It primes us for the tone of Jazmine’s hit…she just wants to “Be Happy”

The video & song definitely equates with the philandering boyfriend and the accepting girlfriend who just keeps holding him down no matter how many times she catches his hands in the cookie jar. Love does makes us foolish at one time or another. Liked the unexpected fashion mix that Jazmine was sporting…the uber girly and tomboyish chic…sooo J Crew! I dug the House Party rendition and cameos were off the chain with the fabulous flashbacks of Doug E. Fresh…still dancing, Pepa minus the Salt, Kwame with the cool profile, and Pete Rock still spinning! Me likey this one!

Power of Kanye West

Hip Hop hasn’t been the same since Kanye went WEST. Most can agree whether you love or hate him, Ye’ always provides an interesting topic to be read, spoken, or watched.  In his latest video from his wondrous hit-single, “Power” Kanye has marked his return which can only be summed up in one word…innovative! This creative 90 second work-of-art was directed by Marco Brambilla and delivers a snippet from the majestical world of Mr. West…angels and demons, halos and swords, light and darkness…oh the hotness!!! He gave us a taste and reminded us that although he was in hiatus, Kanye still has the POWER to captivate legions. I’m ready and eagerly anticipating the experience from Kanye West’s forthcoming album.

Love The Way You Lie – Eminem

Eminem’s resurrection with albums Relapse (2009) and Recovery (2010) has proven that our mastermind hasn’t lost any of his flavor and has rekindled that same spark that he once held within the hip hop community. His second video installment from Recovery, “Love The Way You Lie” has proven that Em still holds dominance as a clever storyteller and continues to enthrall us with his potent messages in his music. Opening with our most famous chameleon…Ms. Rihanna scorches the screen with the new scarlet coiffure with matching nails and the-oh-so-fly make-up that enhances her hazel/greens…she’s edgy and we love it! Took me a few scenes to recognize Dominic Monaghan our friendly little hobbit or better known from Lost but no doubt he delivered the wickedness of a philandering lover. Megan Fox transformed the sexy…I’m gonna kill you but kiss me first…rawness of an addictive relationship.  This one is a heavy rotator!!!
