Why Did I Get Married Too?

I’m usually not a fan of sequels. Bad Boys II, need I say more. It’s really hard to continue a journey and make it as exciting as the first. But after viewing this trailer, I’m actually stoked to revisit the lives of Tyler Perry’s characters in Why Did I Get Married Too. First off, this is the sequel to by far one of Perry’s greatest flicks. Yes, it’s partially because there isn’t any Madea appearances and it’s based on more realistic issues…trouble in marriages. Although it’s genre is labeled as a comedy, I see so many dramatic arks in this trailer. The next couples retreat is set in Bahamas and is sure to offer many new angles:  a couple living in glass house and casting stones; an ex-husband who wants his remarried wife back; and a marriage will ultimately end. We have the return of all the original cast members with interesting additions of Louis Gossett Jr., Cicely Tyson, and Keyshia Cole. I can always appreciate Tyler’s decision to add respectable actors into his mix. This movie is definitely on my radar and I’m so looking forward to seeing it in April!

A Precious Eyeopener

The time has come and I’ve been patiently waiting in the mist for Precious to surface. November 6th is just a few days away and my heart is already rapidly beating from the excitement that I’m going to feel about this movie. Just from the trailer you can see that it’s dark, painful, and enlightening all in the same flick. Won’t be surprised if sniffles are echoing in the theater; not expecting a dry eye…okay, excluding the men! But this heart wrenching tale is going to be a whopper to swallow and a performance to remember; there’s word that Oscar is buzzing! What’s the logistics? Mo’Nique spitting fire and pitching blows; Gabourey Sidibe beaten but not broken; Paula Patton a nurturing forefront; Mariah Carey without make up but making sense! Let’s not forget that it’s derived from a Sapphire novel, directed by Lee Daniels and supported by two of the most influential entertainers, Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry. Oh yeah…the countdown is on!!!

Jay Z Got An Empire State of Mind

I couldn’t wait to see the “Empire State of Mind” video which happens to be a favorite from Jay Z’s Blueprint 3 album. No one can deny that this  song is a hot one and that hook could entrance you into doing things…shout out to lil Mama! But on the real, I love Jay’s accolade to the city that never sleeps and inspired him to become one of the greatest. Now onto the video which pleasantly surprised me with the black & white theme. Would have loved to see all of Alicia’s appearances in color though, (enjoyed it finally at the end of the video). I’m always appreciative when artists puts images that conveys their lyrics in the videos, so naturally I enjoyed the flashes of the Brooklyn Bridge, Yankee Stadium, Empire State Building & respectfully the 9/11 Memorial to name a few. Liked the small cameo of Spike Lee but would’ve preferred to see a snippet of Rihanna getting off a motorcycle when Jay rapped, “good girls gone bad” as an ode to her last album. Overall, I thought it was a good follow-up to Run This Town. What do you think?
