Death at a Funeral
February 23, 2010

Spring 2010 is going to be awesome entertainment wise! There are so many films that are on my watch and I’ve just added another with Death at a Funeral. If you love movies that are jam-packed with comedians like Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, you are going to love this flick too! Let me address the hit-list of celebrities: Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, and Tracy Morgan…need I say more? Nice combo if you ask me and its rounded off with Loretta Divine, Zoe Saldana, and Danny Glover. Making a movie with death as the central point is challenging…remember Kingdom Come? That movie almost brought death to many careers! But with Death at a Funeral, I feel optimistic that it will bring some light to the a serious situation and be a hit!

The Beautiful Swans
February 20, 2010

It’s not easy to transition from being a childhood actor into an adult one. It can either make or break a career and many have disappeared entirely after this change. Metamorphizing on the big screen is difficult especially when your fans are conditioned to your cute & cuddly not the sprouting peach-fuzz or developing feminine peeks. Still there are a talented few who crumbled those barriers and became successful young adult actors…the two that comes to my mind is Drew Barrymore and Dakota Fanning.

Growing up with Drew has been an awesome ride! I remember the first time I seen her on the big screen with those cute little pigtails in E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. She was adorably innocent. Since then, Drew Barrymore has led and survived a rock star’s lifestyle. Regardless of the bumps and bruises she underwent, Drew has developed into a well-respected actress and executive producer. Scoring a Golden Globe for her portrayal as Little Edie on Grey Gardens, Drew has continued to flourish with adding another notch on her belt as a Director with Whip It. Can’t wait to see what’s next on the agenda for Ms. Barrymore!

Dakota Fanning has appeared in many small roles but her most noticeable feature was Man On Fire with Denzel Washington. Although Dakota is a pretty, blond-haired, blue-eyed girl, she has shattered the ditz cliché and has become an exceptional actress. Her performances are always stellar which is another indication of a promising future…is this a Meryl Streep in the making? Just getting her feet wet with successful films like, I Am Sam, The Secret Lives of Bees and New Moon is proof that my predictions are correct! Dakota’s upcoming flicks… Eclipse and The Runways are must-sees. I’m confident that Ms. Dakota will continue to dazzle us!

Who’s That Girl???
February 18, 2010

Ladies and Gents, if you don’t know who’s that girl…allow me to introduce you to Ms. Esperanza Spalding.  She’s young, smart, beautiful, and an extremely talented musician. She has reintroduced this neophyte back to jazz where Cassandra Wilson has left off!  I must be maturing these days because jazz music has been speaking so deeply to my soul. Now before my Hip Hop cohorts dismiss this post, its great to be a connoisseur of all types of music. Different genres provides motivation for me in unique areas.  My rap songs are on blast when I’m either on my exercise grind or what to roll my wheels with some finesse! R&B tunes fill the air when moms is rolling or I feel like attempting to sing…hey, it’s in the privacy of my own vehicle so it’s cool! LOL.  My slow intensive jams or jazzy delights are on my playlist when its time to concentrate; in more ways than one, you dig? As a writer, music is a fundamental part of my creativity. It encourages intuitive thoughts which is a great thing! So check out the video and let me know what you think about the mesmerizing Esperanza Spalding.
